SATURNO, A FESTA! (2018)

Porto-based Brazilian choreographer Renan Martins creates his first full evening solo performance in dialogue with Dø√∑ Ç@K∑ and with the dramaturgical support of Colline Etienne.

SATURNO, A FESTA! is built around the Return of Saturn. An astrological phenomenon mainly known for its profound transformational power, both psychologically and spiritually. Renan Martins creates a fictional clubbing situation where pop music is the engine for movement. He presents himself as Saturnian channel through which different personas, stories and pop references are expressed. Through constant and slow morphing, he travels back and forth from personal traumas to MTV music videos, from folk dances to dramatically charged images. The dance here is offered at a very slow speed, making the space between movement and music so dense one could almost grab it.
